How do you get to Bali? How do you move around Bali? How do you get from Bali to the other islands of Indonesia? There are many ways for getting to Bali, going from Bali and moving around Bali, and they cover travelling by air, sea and over land. If you prefer someone to do the planning for you, there are many tour agencies in Bali and transportation providers in Bali who can organise your movements in and out of Bali as well as within Bali.

The lack of an organized public subway or bus service in Bali makes getting around Bali more challenging yet interesting at the same time. For a true Bali experience and Balinese adventure, hop in to a Bali bemo. These mini vans do not have air conditioning and the Bali bemo drivers, who all work independently, determine the final destination of the Bali bemo, but you can ask to be dropped off at any point in Bali during the journey. Besides bargaining the cost of a ride in a Bali bemo, the experience of riding inside a Bali bemo is unforgettable. You will find yourself seated in the tiny Bali bemo, among a Balinese woman bringing home her purchases from a local Bali market, Balinese children heading to or returning home from school, or a Balinese workman heading to his next project in a Bali village.

Want a little more comfort when moving around Bali? Hop in to a taxi or be driven around Bali in a car. You should have no problems finding transport in Bali with the many Balinese men calling out “Taxi? Transport?” on the streets of Bali as you walk past. If you get to know these drivers well, they may even become your personal guide and bring you to less known or less crowded areas in Bali. Those who prefer full control for their exploration of Bali can rent a motor vehicle of motorbike to get around Bali island. Just make sure to arm yourself with a map of Bali, some basic phrases in the Indonesian language and huge smiles. All these come in handy should you inadvertently take a wrong turn in Bali.

Ever arrived at your Bali hotel on a helicopter? Besides being able to arrive in style, you can view Bali from the air. You can also take to the air in Bali on a chartered flight on a light air craft. The planes can also fly you to one of the islands – Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Ceningan – off the south-east coast Bali, or bring you to the Bali neighbor islands of Lombok and Gilis. Sea-lovers will find that there are a number of boat operators on Bali who provide fast boat or ferry transfers from Bali to these islands. Those who prefer to have their feet firmly planted on Bali ground or keep them dry will have to settle on exploring Bali only. In which case, there are VIP transfers around Bali island in air-conditioned luxury cars.

There are many places of interest, natural attractions and activities to keep you busy in Bali. Tour operators and agencies around the island can arrange transportation to places of interest, itinerary for day trips and activities, and even accommodation in different parts of Bali. Some of the more popular activities include hiking up Mount Agung, riding an elephant at the Bali Safari & Marine Park, exploring Lovina, and rafting on the Agung river.
